One of the most consistently strong teams at Cleveland is the wrestling team. Coach Jeff Zerba has led the Warriors to 11 consecutive PIL district titles, and many Warriors have competed and won state titles over the years. On Feb. 6, the Warriors will compete in the district championships at Benson High School, hoping to extend the streak to 12 in a row.

Seniors Logan Medford and Haley Vann are the leaders for Cleveland. Medford has won the district championship three consecutive times, and will be looking to keep it going. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the 138-pound weight class, with a 24-2 record. Vann, who also wrestles for Team USA, has won two state titles in the 120-pound weight class, and is one of the top wrestlers in Oregon and the U.S. Other names to watch include sophomores Max Copus (22-7, no. 12, 145), and Zion Idica (23-7, no. 14, 160). Junior Connor Smeller (18-12, no. 13,170), and senior Josh Sonnichsen (27-11, no. 10, 182) will also be strong competitors.

District championships will be held on Feb. 6 at Benson High School.
