Chinese immersion seniors will have the opportunity to take a 13-day trip to Taiwan accompanied by two parent chaperones with Chinese teacher Nancy Yang and Vice Principal Sean Murray.
The cost of this trip stands around $800-$900 and the 23 person class will leave on March 22. They will visit our sister school, Lishan High School, and immerse in Taiwanese culture, conversing in Chinese during the trip.
The majority of the visit will take place in Taipei as students complete their senior capstone project, centering around residency research. This is not the only focus, as they will also tour colleges, orphanages, and interact with the community while volunteering in nearby cities. These activities will help them gain a further understanding of IB topics such as sharing the planet, environment, and traditional customs.
These students have been learning Chinese since they were in kindergarten and are very excited to see if they have the skill to communicate with native speakers.
“I think it’s definitely going to be very beneficial for our students in terms of learning and improving their language skills,” said Yang.
