Senior Addy Huss has been playing basketball since third grade, and for four years has been a member of the Cleveland varsity girls basketball team. One of her proudest moments was her last game for the Warriors against Sherwood, which just happened a few weeks ago.
“Even though we lost, we fought very hard, and the whole team just appreciated all that we had been through,” Huss said.
At the end of the season, Huss was named to the PIL First Team, the only Warrior to receive that honor. She took a lot of pride in receiving the award.
“I have put a lot of hard work into basketball, and have dedicated a lot of time and effort into the sport, so it feels great to know that work paid off,” Huss said.
Huss said that one of the biggest challenges during her time at Cleveland was getting used to new teammates and bonding with them, but she was able to make plenty of connections. She stated that playing on varsity all four years of her high school career helped her to develop her game and continue to improve each year.
“I think being on varsity my whole career, I was able to improve every year and gain respect, and also it helped me gain skills as a leader as well,” Huss said.
Overall, Huss looks back on her time as a Warrior with no regrets.
“I’ll remember my time at Cleveland as really special. I grew close to all my teammates and coaches, and I’ve had a lot of good memories,” Huss said.
Huss additionally expressed her excitement for the future of Cleveland girls’ basketball, and named junior Bijou O’Connor and sophomore Charlotte Gardner as players to watch next year.
“I’m very excited for the future. I think the program is in great hands,” expressed Huss.
