Led by an Oscar Johnson hat trick, the Cleveland boys soccer team beat Roosevelt 6-1 Oct. 14 on CHS soccer community night when the program invites Southeast youth soccer teams to watch the game and meet the players.
The game started off quickly with a goal by Johnson in just the third minute, assisted by a beautiful cross slipped between defenders from fellow junior Julian Daniell.

Roosevelt got back in the game with a goal in the 22nd minute to tie it up at 1-1, but Cleveland sophomore Bennet Lind quickly responded with a goal two minutes later off a rebound of a blocked shot from Johnson to give Cleveland the 2-1 lead going into halftime.
Almost immediately into the second half, Johnson got his second goal of the night on an assist by junior North Miller-Root. Johnson then proceeded to score yet another goal in the same minute to get himself a hat-trick. His goal came off an assist from senior Ari Krain. Not even a minute later, Daniell got fouled in the box and proceeded to score the penalty to take a commanding 5-1 lead.
After scoring three goals in two minutes the action calmed for a while as the two teams went back and forth. In the 58th minute, junior Max Morrison scored the final goal of the game in a scramble within the box where he came away with a goal in the top corner.
The last 20 minutes of the game remained scoreless and Cleveland came away with the 6-1 win at home, extending their win streak to three.
