You might be wondering how a rapper managed to trick all the politicians in Italy by making them believe he was going to become a politician. This is the case of Federico Leonardo Lucia, better known by his stage name Fedez, who was able to fool the Italian politicians by releasing a very mysterious video of himself that suggested he was going to run for the 2023 presidential elections.
Fedez is a very well-known rapper among Italian teenagers, but also middle aged Italians, because of his important role as a judge in the famous X-Factor singing program.
The media quickly spread Fedez’s video and many started believing that he was determined to become a politician to improve his much-loved Italy.
Italian politicians, however, did not take this news very well and started criticizing the 32-year-old rapper by saying that he had no idea how politics worked and that he did not have what it takes to be a politician.
To better understand why politicians were scared of Fedez’s intention to become part of politics, we have to take a step back and better explain who Fedez and his wife are. Fedez and Chiara Ferragni are probably the most famous couple of Italy. Chiara Ferragni is a famous Italian blogger, businesswoman, fashion designer and model who has collaborated with many fashion and beauty brands. With more than 25.6 million followers on Instagram, Chiara is the second most followed Italian influencer, after Tik Tok star Khaby Lame.
Chiara and Fedez were married in September 2018, and have two children, Leone Lucia Ferragni who is three years old, and Vittoria Ferragni, who is nine months old. The couple has always been very active on social media and were never afraid to fight for their beliefs and share their personal opinions on heated political topics, such as immigration in Italy, the Covid-19 vaccination campaign and many others.
They sometimes attacked in public many politicians, from Vittorio Sgarbi to Matteo Salvini, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of Italy. For these reasons, many politicians don’t like the couple, as they frequently used their influence, given by the almost 40 million followers they have combined, to spread the message that politicians in Italy are not adequate and are not worthy of holding their political office.
In the end it turns out that Fedez had absolutely no intention to become a politician, and the video he had released on Instagram was a promotional video for his new album “Disumano.” Thanks to all of the wanted confusion and panic about whether he actually had intentions to join Italian politics, he made the Italian politicians look bad and achieved what he wanted: diss the politicians and show the Italian population how they were more concerned about him joining politics than actually solving Italy’s problems.
And, he gained a lot of publicity and fame for his new album.
