Didn’t go to the club fair? I got you! Here are some of the hottest clubs everyone is going to and which ones you should join.
Clubs are a major aspect of the high school environment that give students the opportunity to be unique and get to know one another. These clubs at Cleveland High School encourage students to be more involved in the school community and help them play a bigger role in society.
Multicultural Student Union
Run by Grace Chan and Maya Feldman-Wang, the Multicultural Student Union meets in room 233 during lunch every Tuesday. This club welcomes everyone to come together no matter their culture and has a place to express themselves by coming together and activities to do.
“Bussin pasta and chaotic and fun energy. Felt super fun and welcomed,” said sophomore Nora Helm.
“Super fun energy in the room. Everyone was super welcoming and it was so organized and you should go!” Elliot Funk said.
Multicultural Student Union does an amazing job at including all students and encouraging them to come together and have a positive environment to eat lunch with one another. So, make sure to stop by next Tuesday.
Students for Feeding Portland
Lewis Johnson and Keely Caffee, presidents of this club centered around community through food. Whether they are connecting with food during lunch or gifting it outside of school, they bring people together. Every other Wednesday in Jessica Wray’s room (282), this astounding group of people come together, eat snacks, and every now and then try to find a time they can help volunteer to contribute to feeding Portland.
“I love this club and I’m super excited to start feeding Portland,” Helm mentioned.
If you are looking for a good environment to eat lunch on Wednesdays then this is the place. Not only do you get to connect with schoolmates but also Portland when contributing to help feed your community.

Cleveland Jewish Union
This club meets every other Friday in room 115 and supports Jewish students. Co-Presidents Eleanor Baer, Nettie Goldberg, and Miriam Chenven work to include Jewish and non-Jewish students to their club in room 115 as a way for students to share their experiences with each other to form a stronger community and make friends with people who they might not have met outside of the club.
“It’s fun. I like that we get food. We get to talk and laugh about being Jewish. I feel like being in a community with people you have something in common with is one of the fastest ways to form connections,” sophomore Sarai Fairchild shared.
Jewish Union is an amazing and fun club to join and help bring awareness of Jewish culture to Cleveland High School. For more information about when meetings are, follow their instagram @clevelandjsu. If you want to spend lunch in a fun environment and make new friends, then this is the place to go!
Climate Club
Led by presidents Saule Bolstad and Alma Valls, Climate Club meets every Tuesday in room 378 (Eric Levine’s room) and works to raise awareness about climate issues and takes action to make change.
“It’s really great! It is a really good community and I feel like we are doing real intangible work in society. And the club has real significance to students attending. In the club we are collaborating with administrations, organizations and local governments to help make our school more climate friendly. My favorite part is on Fridays we do ‘Fridays of the future’ and go out and protest with signs we made to encourage students about environmental issues,” junior Wynn Posedel shared.
If you want to help out with fighting for the environment even just a little then this is the club for you. You can attend just a few meetings or volunteer a few times and it will help make a change. Follow @chspdx_climate_club for more information.
Animal Rights Club
Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month Animal Rights Club meets in room 336 (Seamus Shalman’s room). Club presidents Sammy Vorhees and Julia Heineck always have an animal of the day and a fun video or activity for the participants to be involved in.
“I love Animal Rights Club so much. There were so many people there that I knew and everyone was really nice. There were really good snacks,” Zadie Swinehart explained in an excited tone.
If you care about learning about endangered species and want opportunities to volunteer then stop by the next Animal Rights Club meeting and follow @chs_animalrightsclub for updates!
Women of the Week Club
Every Thursday in room 109 club presidents Lucy Sanders, Addie Clower, Reagan Meyer, and Maria Caudillo come together to educate students about historical women throughout history. Women of the Week club focuses on bringing awareness to Cleveland High School about women and build a positive community for students to enjoy together during lunch.
“Our club aims to represent unrepresented women in history. There are many females in history that don’t get talked about enough like in classes and we wanted to shine a spotlight on them and their story,” Sanders said.
“We want to foster a community of feminists. Clubs are always a fun community and fun way to meet up with different friends and talk about something that we all care about,” President Addie Clower mentioned.
If you are looking for a fun place to go while eating lunch on Thursdays, Women of the Week club is the place to be. Not only will you get more knowledge about historical female figures, but you will get to enjoy amazing snacks and have fun with some interesting and fun presidents.
