The Cleveland choir dazzled the audience at Springtasia on May 21 and 22. The two night event gave choir students the opportunity to showcase their talent and say farewell to the auditorium.
“Springtasia is totally one of the highlights of the year, not just for choir, but for the school in general, because the music and cheerful atmosphere just makes it such a celebration,” said junior Vivian Boush.
The event started off strong with all three choirs, Nova Choir, Daires Choir, and A’ Choir, performing the song “The Greatest Show” complete with choreography and tricks. The energy was sustained throughout the show, as numerous group pieces and solos were performed. In between different songs, awards were given and comedic skits made the audience laugh.
The choir teacher Allison Cottrell worked hard to ensure students had this space to perform whether it was a solo or bigger act. Springtasia was an important choir production for the performers, allowing them to share their passion and celebrate their work throughout the year, especially the graduating seniors.
“I’ve only been in choir for a year, but the seniors were such an integral part of the community. It felt like such a great culmination of all of our hard work throughout the year to be able to celebrate our triumphs collectively,” said junior Wynnie Posedel.
The new choir presidents and vice presidents were announced towards the end of the show. The current choir presidents, Eli Amundsen and Pema Lauder-Dean, both seniors, handed off their role to the new co-presidents, Sylvia Stevens and Zoe Brigled. The new vice presidents are Annik Antikajian and Vivian Boush.
“Springtasia is honestly magic. It’s sort of death in the process but I adore getting to work with everyone, be silly, get the hang of choreo, and hear familiar songs! I truly think it’s a really fun way for people to see what choir is and everyone should come!” said Stevens.
