Four wrestlers stand on the podium at the state tournament

Four Cleveland athletes stood on the podium at the state wrestling tournament, held Feb. 27-28 at the Memorial Coliseum. The team placed 15th overall.

Junior  Elija Fishler took fifth place at 113 pounds with a 4-2 decision over Cameron Cross of Roseburg. Freshman Logan Medford took third place at 126 pounds, with a fall over Nathan Jones of Mountain View. Junior Patrick Brown took sixth place, losing in a medical decision to Elliot Harris of Grants Pass. And Haley Vann, freshman, placed third at 115 pounds with a fall over Liberty Barklow of Elmira.

A total of nine wrestlers went to state for coach Jeff Zerba’s team, which headed to the top tournament following its ninth straight district win.
